Our Grades K-2 Workshop Themes
Seeking our Senses
Kids explore all five senses. They test their vision with optical illusions, experiment with their hearing, and explore textures plus more.
Body Basics
Kids study the science of their insides by learning about the major systems of the human body. They learn about how their food is digested, how their blood flows through their bodies, and how their brain controls all of these parts.
Decomposers
Take some worms, add some food scraps, and what do you get; fertilized soil and a whole lot of fun! This workshop breaks down the science of decomposition and reveals the work of worms and other decomposers.
Dinosaurs
Kids examine fossil casts and explore the differences in the teeth of herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs. Students participate in a mini dinosaur excavation and make a cast of a dinosaur tooth to take home.
Slippery Science
This class demystifies one of the most beneficial molecules known to humankind…polymers!
Sound Basics
Kids surf sound waves in this “offbeat” class. They will explore how sounds are created and transmitted.
Magnificent Magnets
Kids discover the invisible fields surrounding magnets with our iron filings. They devise and perform experiments to test magnetic strength.
Where’s the Air?
This dynamic class explores the concepts of air pressure and buoyancy through hands-on experimentation and thought-provoking demonstrations.
Measure for Measure
Children learn all about the metric system of measurement and trek through a treasure trail.
Walloping Weather
Explore the water cycle, clouds, how we measure weather and how temperature effects our daily weather patterns.
Planets and Moons
Explore our solar system from the sun to the farthest planet and everything in between with out a rocket ship.
All About Animals
Calling all animal fans - join us to learn all about the different animal categories, see how animals protect themselves and adapt to their environment and compare and contrast their similarities and differences.
Fantastic Flyers
Explore the forces of flight - gravity, lift, thrust and drag - through hands on experiments. Then apply what you learned in making some fun paper airplanes.
Lab Works
Students will learn to manipulate laboratory equipment at their personal lab bench while also learning all about lab equipment and measuring.
BUGS!
Students will identify the characteristics of insects while investigating their defenses, habitats and the important role they play in pollination.
